Replacement Windows in San Jose Homes Can Help Prevent Burglaries
Your home is the repository for most of your earthly possessions. As a result, it’s also a major target for burglars who want to make a quick buck by swiping your valuables. As this article from the San Jose Mercury News demonstrates, though, a little vigilance often proves vital in thwarting break-ins:
The eagle eye and quick instincts of an Evergreen neighborhood watch member helped lead to the arrest of three teens suspected of burglarizing a home during school hours Wednesday, and police hope her example is emulated in the battle to curb property crimes in the city.
A woman who lives off Croft Drive near Millbrook Elementary School called police around 10 a.m. after witnessing two suspicious figures enter a neighbor’s home. She remained on the phone with a dispatcher and described them in detail as they left with stolen property, according to the San Jose Police Department.
Officer Marc Taylor responded to the call and spotted the suspects in a vehicle a couple blocks away on Yancy Drive. He stopped the car and with help from other officers arrested the three people inside, two boys and a girl, all 15 years old.
One of the best things people can do is to install new windows in San Jose homes. After all, windows are the most fragile entry points to your home, and it doesn’t help that they’re usually shielded by privacy fences or trees—facts that any burglar will take advantage of. Wear and tear can compromise a window’s ability to latch or lock properly, and statistics show that thieves would much rather break into a home with an unlocked window than use force and possibly alert homeowners or neighbors.
If you’re going to replace your windows, though, be sure to work with a trusted San Jose windows company like SGK Home Solutions. Such firms have a wide range of window designs available that not only offer aesthetic appeal but provide utmost security as well.
Burglaries are a threat that all neighborhoods face. Fortunately, precautionary measures like replacing your old windows can help you avoid being a victim of such incidents. The money you spend updating your windows may very well save you a fortune on lost belongings.
